Hi! My name is Chuck Thompson and I'd like to introduce myself. My primary occupation is as a psychotherapist/marriage counselor. C S Thompson is the pen name I use to write mystery novels. The C S stands for Charles Stephen, which is my given name, so it is really me. So here are a few random things about my writing;
* My mysteries are character driven.
* My characters, at least all the major ones, are amalgams of people I know personally and/or clients of my counseling practice. You may think this means my characters are "crazy" but they are not and neither are my clients.
* My main character/detective is a woman named Nattie Moreland. When you meet Nattie you will not think of her as one of my clients, you will think of her as your neighbor or at least someone who could be your neighbor.
* I have been writing applied theology books for close to 20 years. My first novel, "The Bishop of Jerusalem" was first published in 2002. My first mystery novel, "The Warrior" was written in 2003 (and remains unpublished). I began writing "Why Natasha?" in the spring of 2009.
* I think of myself as a story teller rather than a writer. My stories are more about who Nattie is than what she does or what happens to her.
* As a writer, I need a lot of help. I had to look up how to spell 'amalgam,' and according to my editor my sentences wander randomly from one tense to another (whatever that means).
